Dedicated Home Automation PC PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 12 October 1998

I've just built myself a new Pentium2 machine so my "old" Pentium 233MMX can now be dedicated to Home Automation. With 64mb of RAM this machine should be more than powerful enough to run HAL2000 when I receive a copy to test (hopefully before Christmas).

The latest version of the HomeVision software now includes the ability to play a named .wav file upon receiving caller ID information. This means the PC can now actually announce callers over its speakers as well as have HomeVision display their name and number on the TV. Click on the link below to use At&Ts on-line .wav file creator. Just type in the message you want spoken and you can download the ready made .wav file in seconds! http://www.research.att.com/~mjm/cgi-bin/ttsdemo
