The irNetBox is a networked device with multiple outputs for IR-emitters. It uses a simple and open TCP/IP based communication protocol, so can be used in conjunction with applications on any platform. On Windows platforms, the RedRat SDK can also be used, supporting simple application development or migration of applications developed for the RedRat3...

Based on infrared remote control expertise gained over many years with the RedRat2 and RedRat3, the irNetBox-Pro is the first RedRat product specifically designed for the professional market, including:

  • Professional audio-visual installers.
  • Show, theatre and display automation systems.
  • Automated transmission monitoring equipment.
  • Consumer electronics quality assurance test rigs.

Hardware Specification and Features

  • 19 inch 1U rack mountable case. Depth of 94mm.
  • 10/100 Base-T Ethernet, USB and RS-232.
  • 16 IR output sockets - 3.5mm jack sockets for "stick-on" IR emitters.
  • IR outputs switchable individually or in any combination.
  • Low-power IR output to prevent IR leakage to neighboring stacked equipment.
  • One high-powered output for long-range IR blaster
  • Learning IR detector for recording remote control signals from original remote.
  • 7V to 30V DC input, drawing around 500mA in operation.

Designed primarily as a network device, it can be configured to use DHCP or given a static IP address. IR input/output functionality is controlled via TCP/IP, the details of which will be open so can be supported on any platform.

RedRat Software For Microsoft Windows, the full RedRat SDK is available, making porting of applications from the RedRat3 to the irNetBox straightforward. It has both .NET and COM interfaces, and the features include signal database storage and management, device discovery and naming, simple APIs for signal input and output routing, IR signal macros and scheduled events.
Additionally, further RedRat software will become available, including applications for scheduling IR output, signal database management and virtual remote controls.
