I have sony bravia 37" and it is connected from scart to lcd

will this scart to hdmi converter give me better picture then what i am seeing today

as far as i understand the lcd already upscales the sd signals

so the point is will this thing will do the better job

I'd say improvement would be highly unlikely.

As much as I sometimes curse Sony for doing everything their own way, it's undeniable that their proprietary components work really well together in their consumer products where every component in the product design is the best in its cost/price range and designed specifically to perfectly deliver exactly what is expected of it by every other component in the system to produce the best possible picture available from the input source.

The real problem is that no matter how you boost it or expand it or whatever else you do to it, the analog signal that's coming out of that SCART just doesn't contain enough information to make the quality of detail that hot on today's high-def screens.

Your Sony's most likely doing the best that can be done, so save your money, resist gadgets like this, and when you can afford it, get yourself a player or receiver with the proper digital output to replace whatever it is that's putting out the analog signal your Sony is valiantly attempting to "upscale" into a silk purse.

We currently have a Humax 9200T PVR (this only has a scart socket in the back), we would like to use this with a new HD ready tv, using an hdmi cable from tv to Humax. The Humax doesn't currently have an hdmi socket - would this solve the problem?

i bought this device and im having problems with it i have my cable box connected to this device via scart then i have a hdmi to dvi connector for the output to my tv but half the screen is yellow! please help my tv has a 24 pin dvi slot, my hdmi to dvi is 19 could this be the reason or is it the Scart to HDMI Convertor?

I have a Humax 9200T PVR and can confirm it does have a HDMI socket on the back for HD video connection to a HD TV.

You do not need to use a Scart to HD converter.

Have just purchased a Sony KDL32W4000 to replace an old CRT and have the standard Def V box from Virgin Cable.. the Pictures i used to get through the scart socket were great but on this HD 1080P TV they leave a lot to be desired. Will HDMI improve the quality of SD transmission from Virgin over the scart lead and will upgrading to the V+Box help even the SD broadcasts?
