HP has a new iPaq in the works: the H2200 Pocket PC. The H2200 sports built-in Bluetooth and a universal remote control for your living room TV, DVD player, VHS etc. Details of the H2200, which sounds like a version of the current H3900, appeared in a draft version of the user manual filed with the US Federal Communications Commission. Said manual reveals the H2200 to feature a 240x320 16-bit colour screen, 64MB of RAM, 32MB of ROM and either a 200MHz or a 400MHz Intel XScale CPU.

 "Palm's new "Zire" handheld, on sale globally on Monday, isn't the first Palm handheld to sell for £70 -- but it is the first low-priced device the company expects to make money on.
Historically, Palm handheld devices are discounted and often sell for £70 at the end of their retail life cycle. With Zire, Palm has cut costs in a number of areas to offer the new device at that price.
The slim, white handheld is similar in size to Palm's m500 handheld, but is lighter and has just two main buttons -- for address book and calendar functions. The Zire connects to a PC with an industry standard mini-USB cable, instead of a more costly, custom-designed cradle"... |

UEI's Nevo technology goes far beyond "frill", but still comes across as a secondary function, added value. Despite having the ultimate in pre-designed hardware resources behind them, the Nevo is still too structured and rigid in its remote control capabilities to truly capture the high-end or "hard core" market segment.
