The unit allows you to record your existing CD's into a MP3 format, which are held on an internal 20.4 GB Quantum hard drive. According to the manufacturer, at 160 Kps, you should be able to record approximately 280 hours or 5600 songs. This I have found to be a bit optimistic. Using the 160 Kps, I expect to hold about 4500 songs, still a lot of music... |

The Pico TH-03 is a cool bit o' kit in my book, it allows the measurement of temperature, light, if doors are open etc with the appropriate plug in sensor. Each TH-03 has 3 ports or channels that sensors can plug into and although the sensors themselves come with a 5m lead, each sensor can be up to 100m away (you can buy extension leads) from the TH-03 unit. Couple this with something like the RocketPort serial hub units (review coming) and the distance is almost unlimited... |

The Add-a-motor is primarily designed as a 'retro fix' for previously installed tracked curtains. It does not need a specially designed track like the Swish system. As long as your curtain track has a loop pull cord this unit will work on either cord or chain. The instructions states that it will pull curtains of up to 60 lb weight. The curtains I have installed the 'Add-a-motor' onto are 8ft wide and are lined and interlined and weigh around 50lb... |

The Alarm
At last I've had a chance to put something down about my new Comfort Alarm . Blame a busy few weeks at work and the fact that my Comfort project is likely to be ongoing for a few months yet (which is good, not bad). I'll spend some time now not advertising the system but saying what has worked well for me, and what hasn't. The summary is that Comfort is wonderful and does everything I want... |

I was interested to hear about this new switch from AEI Security. The idea of an internal PIR controlled switch seems so obvious (indeed these are readily available in the States - like everything else). The clever bit of this switch is that it doesn't require a neutral wire (like all those external PIR security lights for example). It can also be used with florescent bulbs as well as non-lighting appliances (fans etc). Here's a quote from AEI's website... |

I received these modules to review from Celtel at the start of December which was very timely. You see I'm all X-10'd up so I went across the road to my neighbours house with the appliance module, lamp module and remote... |
