2011 sees Automated Home reach the ripe old age of 15.  To celebrate our quindecennium (yes, really) we've asked some friends of the site to look back and give us their home automation highlights from the past decade-and-a-half.  For an even greater challenge we then asked them to look ahead to what advances the next 15 years will bring to digital domesticity. The end of another year and time for a customary glance back at the 20 most popular posts from 2010.  5 of our top 20 articles cover aspects of the iPad - a device we hadn't even seen this time a year ago.  It has undoubtedly been one of the single biggest smart home news stories of the year, if not the decade.

Once again the popularity of sorting and streaming our digital media around the home is borne out with 5 entries in the top 20 too and it's great to see you enjoyed our new 'My Automated Home" features this year with a couple of those making it to the list as well.

But at number one, and by quite a margin, is our review of the new version of Plex.  With CES just a few days away now and Windows, Linux, Android and LG TV versions of Plex in the works, plus iPad v2, and the first crop of proper Android tablets due - the next 12 months looks as exciting as ever for the Digital Home enthusiast!

It's a sad day for lovers of the Philips range of Pronto universal remote controls.  According to CE Pro Philips has pulled the plug completely on the Pronto business after 2 years of looking for a buyer.  Corporate speak says that the Pronto "activity no longer fits with the Philips strategy".  We still have our original old green Pronto from the 90's - one of the very first bit of smart home tech we brought to the Automated Home.  Read on (with a tear in your eye) for the release...
