Clipsal have recently unleashed the new CBUS Wiser unit which appears to offer a great deal of potential to home automaters with CBUS to expand their CBUS network with logic features and an out-of-the-box touchscreen centric control system.

The free iPone app to control the system is now available on the iTunes apps store, giving control of your lighting, climate, entertainment, energy and camera monitoring from within your home via WiFi or away from home over the cellular data network. Back in May we reported on the launch of a new CBus home controller from Clipsal. Then last week the UK C-Bus product manager announced on our forums that the 'Wiser' module would be launching in the UK in January. Now we've received the official press release from Schneider Electric

As usual we've received no press release or annoucement from Clipsal / Schneider and there appears to be no information available to the UK distributors either, but here's what we've found so far...
Cytech have just launched upgrade packages aimed at existing users of their Comfort Intelligent Home System. Users with installations using the original Comfort 1 system introduced in the UK in 1999 will be able to upgrade to Comfort 2. News this morning from our forums that Clipsal are going to open up access to their C-Bus protocol. This is the news many custom installers and DIYers have been waiting for as it should seemuch easier integration of C-Bus prducts with other systems. Interestingly this comes very soon after the announcement that Philips have aquired Dynalite. The future of lighting control is definatley going to be interesting...

Many of us C-bus owners will know that the ability to add true logic based programming has always been somewhat lacking with C-bus unless using third party software/hardware solutions. I've had the Comfort to C-bus UCM since I installed and that works well but as with all things Comfort you need a good deal of patience to programme using Comfigurator....

- Over these last few months i have been considering which way to go with my lighting system. Currently all my lights are controlled via relays by Genesis(my alarm system). I must say it has worked quite well and its only because i would like a dimming function on my lights its being made almost redundant (still looking after external security lights)...
