Video: Seasonal Siri Hack Brings Christmas Tree Voice Control

We've seen plenty of interesting Siri hacks over the last couple of months, but here's a slightly more seasonal variation.  The guys over at iHomeTouch have married a little X10 Home Automation with a Spotify playlist all kicked off using SiriProxy.  The macro is launched in an interactive conversation with Siri.  Check out the video below...

Plex on the New Apple TV - The Beginning

Frank Bauer, creator of Kelxi, yesterday released details of what he calls a 'Tech-Demo' that allows a new 2G Apple TV to connect to Plex Media Server.  Its very earlier days and its far from a one click install, but this is great news for anyone wanting to roll out multiple zones around the house feeding from their central Plex library.  Last night iphoneblogr.com released this video tutorial on how to install the proof-of-concept.  Also checkout the video below on how to jailbreak your Apple TV and the original forum post from Frank too...

Google Robot Car

Our other passion here at Automated Home is cars so you might think we'd be into this whole automated driving Google Robot vehicle thing.  We're not.  Now, call us Jeremy Clarkson sympathisers if you like, but this just looks like the beginning of the end for anyone that enjoys their driving.  We're losing the musical multi-cylinder engines for smaller, more ordinary forced induction units these days, and don't even get us started on the milk-float sound track from the Tesla.  Don't get us wrong, we love technology in cars, just not the kind that takes away our driving pleasure.  Heck it's not much of a leap from these robot cars to Skynet!  Read on for all the scary details and a video of one of these monster on the road...
