Clipsal ULTI RF Light Switches

Tuesday, 19 August 2003

Here's some info on the exciting new Clipsal RF retro fit lighting. These may (or may not) be the RF switches promised for the UK soon...

ULTI is an innovative, easy and cost effective lighting-control and home-automation system that makes life in the home, office or hotel more stylish, convenient and convivial. Departing from traditional light switch systems in their ease of installation and adaptation to designer/user needs, Clipsal new system ULTI reached new heights in home automation of lighting controls. Without the need for re-wiring, ULTI can be installed in any existing switch system, fuss free. The system also features other enticing designs such as backlit buttons and re-mountable backboards. The master control unit can store as many as six scenes within its memory, while commanding the functions of smaller home appliances simultaneously...

A new range of advanced lighting control units has been launched by Polaron Controls. Aimed at homes as well as bars, restaurants, smaller shops and offices, Lightlink Compact dimmer racks can be directly integrated to offer seamless control with other home automation systems such as multi-room audio, home cinema and security systems.

They make use of the latest IGBT (insulated gate bipolar transistor) technology, which removes the need for noisy chokes and provides dynamic short circuit, overload and thermal protection. Soft starting stops the nuisance of miniature circuit breakers tripping caused by initial current surges.

Housing four or eight channels, the racks can control incandescent/LV and mains voltage halogen lights as well as providing 1-10V output for controlling HFR fluorescent dimmable ballasts. DALI and DSI options are also available...

If you can't get this done, check out the X10 micromodules - which are more expensive (and they don't have dimmers yet)... Read More...
