So bulbs are this months thing.  NXP have announced their new GreenChip IP Smart Lighting Solution which allows users to "monitor, manage and control every light bulb from any Internet-enabled device". Their partnership with GreenWave Reality brings intelligent lighting control to CFL and SSL (LED) lamps with support for IP v4 and v6.  The low power IP hardware also includes support for other standards including ZigBee.  Check out the video below...

Plex Media Server - Linux Version

Here's the news a lot of geeks have been waiting for.  Plex have just released a Linux version of their Plex Media Server software (PMS) .  The initial version is the first product to come from the newly launched 'Plex Labs' and means that servers are now available for Mac OSX, Windows and Linux.  Perhaps best of all, the new Linux release supports some network attached storage devices.  A Plex setup could now be as simple as one of the new LG HD TVs with Plex 'Media Link' built in plus a NAS...

EnOcean TCP/IP

We've always been fascinated by the energy harvesting wireless sensor technology from EnOcean.  The bidirectional self-powered 'green' devices do away with the need for cable in your walls for either power or bus signals.  Now the EnOcean Alliance have announced that their devices are now "fully interoperable with TCP/IP".  Siting the growing customer demand to manage and monitor building and home automation controls over IP networks, the EnOcean Alliance has added IP technology to their products.  Check out the full PR below plus a video that explains the tech...
