As long as your smart phone and smart TV are connected to your home Wi-Fi network, this is a snap. After you launch the LG TV Remote App, it will automatically scan for your TV. Found Video : Tour of the HP Smart Home at Cupertino

Here's a great video from the guys at TweakTown, showing us round the HP Smart Home at the Cupertino Campus.  With touchscreen control of all the house sub-systems including lighting, heating and cooling, CCTV, blinds and music plus a 30" LCD monitor virtual aquarium in the living room.  Check out the triple monitor set-up in the kids room and the Android powered printer.  The tour also shows us the HP Slate being used as a remote for the entire home as well as the Palm WebOS phones that HP acquired in 2010.  There's HP TouchSmart in the Kitchen and control of the entire Home Automation system from the TV in the Master Bedroom.  For the rack geeks check out the hardware that runs the entire system around 8 minutes in.

It's a sad day for lovers of the Philips range of Pronto universal remote controls.  According to CE Pro Philips has pulled the plug completely on the Pronto business after 2 years of looking for a buyer.  Corporate speak says that the Pronto "activity no longer fits with the Philips strategy".  We still have our original old green Pronto from the 90's - one of the very first bit of smart home tech we brought to the Automated Home.  Read on (with a tear in your eye) for the release...

AV Custom Design company Polar Bear Solutions has announced a new in-wall docking station for the Philips Pronto TSU9600. As well as holding/charging the remote the dock also has four hard buttons of its own which are available even if the Pronto is not docked.  These can be interfaced to a 3rd party lighting system for scene control for example.  The dock is currently in the final stages of testing and should be available by September '08....
