With Philips announcing the death of their entire range of Pronto remotes a few weeks ago, and UEI following suit at CES cancelling their NeVo range too, the universal remote market seems to have taken a huge hit from the iPod Touch and the iPad.  Never the less, Sony have decided to enter the fray with their own Wi-Fi and DLNA equipped touchscreen...

iHomeTouch is a new iOS app from 1Jump2 for control of your X10 based home automation system.  The software is a universal app for the iPhone and iPad and will also run on the iPod touch.  The intuitive interface allows you to use photos of the rooms in your home with the ability to touch certain parts of the screen for control.  Check out the video below for an example set-up controlling Christmas Tree lights from an iPhone...

A very cool video tour of of the Savant Experience Centre in New York City with CEO and founder of Savant, Bob Madonna.  Savant has constructed this 8000 square foot living space to showcase their Apple based home automation system. The video includes demo's of lighting and AV control from the iPad and iPhone as well as touchscreen TVs and back projection screen.  There's even talk of 50 mac minis powering one installation!  Watch and drool... 

This months "My Automated Home" feature is from Keyvan Rahimian who shows us around his DIY IPad based home automation set-up. The system uses an impressively professional looking visual interface in conjunction with with a hardware Ethernet to IR gateway from Global Cache to control his AV and Sonos whole house audio systems...
