AppleTV Movie Rentals

Apple have just taken the wraps off their movies service in iTunes for the UK .  With around 700 titles available right away you have the choice of buying or renting.  Back catalogue titles sell for £6.99 while new releases go on sale for £10.99 on the same day as their DVD release.  It looks like the UK is getting a 48hr rental period (US currently 24hrs) with prices starting at £2.49 for older titles and £3.49 for new releases.  You can also download selected titles in HD quality for £4.49.  You'll be able to watch the movies on your iPod, iPhone or on a widescreen TV with Apple TV.  All the rest of the details after the jump...

ITV Catchup Now on Mac with Silverlight

ITV Catchup on Mac

ITV's on-line TV service - Catchup - is now Mac compatible.  You'll need to install Microsofts Silverlight plugin, the Adobe-Flash-like addon that's required for it to work.  We've just tried it and as you can see from the screen grab above it's v1.0 but still classed as a beta...

BBC Announces iPlayer on Wii

BBC iPlayer on Wii

A few minutes ago the BBC announced that it's done a deal with Nintendo to allow its Wii games console to stream iPlayer programing to TVs across the UK!  A basic version of the player is available TODAY with a more polished version to follow.

UPDATE Instructions for enabling the iPlayer on the Wii have now been published on the BBC site.  It appears this involves paying £3.50 to add the Internet Channel, although the BBC hope to find a way around this in the future...
