BBC iPlayer on Wii

A few minutes ago the BBC announced that it's done a deal with Nintendo to allow its Wii games console to stream iPlayer programing to TVs across the UK!  A basic version of the player is available TODAY with a more polished version to follow.

UPDATE Instructions for enabling the iPlayer on the Wii have now been published on the BBC site.  It appears this involves paying £3.50 to add the Internet Channel, although the BBC hope to find a way around this in the future...

The new software update for the AppleTV was released just last night.  The update brings a completely new UI and with it HD movie rentals (available now in the US and coming later this year in the UK) but still no DivX / XviD playback.  However, full-time podcaster Don McAllister gives us his first impression on the new interface, and tells us why we should be excited about the huge selection of free content we can stream direct to our living rooms...

Home automators love personal video recorders. A lot of us employ several of them around the home and use IP to stream recordings for different users to different rooms.  Already office apps (like Google Docs) are moving on-line so I suppose it shouldn't come as any great surprise that now the PVR is moving up to the cloud as well.  TVCatchUp is a free service recording from the UKs FreeView channels and storing them online so you can stream them to any PC with web access...
