Home Automation Gun Turret

I've often joked with friends about motorised gun turrets in my Home Automation setup, but Vaughn Rupp has actually done it! A combination of a CCTV PTZ (Pan Tilt Zoom) mount, a miniature CCTV camera to look along the barrel, all married to a Web interface allows Vaughn to connect to his home remotely and "discourage" unwanted visitors. This seems to be the Mk1 version with the promise of "bigger guns" to come in the next one. Watch the video...

SHS2007 Video - Schneider Electric / Clipsal C-Bus

Smart Home Show 2007 - Review

I've just returned from the Smart Home Show (22-25 March 2007) and in this, its third incarnation at the NEC in Birmingham, the public was treated to the best show yet! In a first for Automated Home, we have videos (youtube.com/automatedhome) from the show which should give a good taste of the event for those that couldn't make it and hopefully show some items that you may have missed even if you did visit...

This first in the series shows the new MCE interface to the Comfort Intelligent Home system, along with a Smartphone/PDA interface, and their new wall switches with built in temperature sensors...

Is It Time for a Robot to Mow Your Lawn

With the clocks set to change this weekend in the UK, Spring is inbound and our thoughts turn to the garden. As Robotic mowers mature, it really may be time to consider letting "R2D2" mow the grass, while you spend your time on something much more pleasurable. Watch the video after the jump...
