After upgrading my main PC's motherboard I at last had 2 serial ports free (the new board has a PS2 type mouse connector). This meant I could finally start to experiment with my Solwise Caller ID box. After some initial talks with Craig (of Custom Solutions Inc) he sent me the Caller ID version of the HomeVision software (this is a special version of the software needed for Caller ID for which there is a small charge)…
I have now added a page with illustrations of the HomeVision. These pictures have been pulled from the CSI site in the mean time. I hope to add my own pictures in the future...
The HomeVision is now up and running! It is getting me up in the morning, controlling my AV system, reminding me when my favourite TV programs are on and sending the house to sleep at night. Here's a description of what I've come up with so far...
I received my new (second) HomeVision yesterday. Craig has now received the old unit back and after running his diagnostics apparently "The power supply reset chip had failed". I really must commend Craig for his excellent support and for the speed with which he shipped the new unit to me. Thanks Craig...
The HomeVision unit I received this week developed a fault after running for approximately 10 minutes. I phoned Craig at CSI and left a message on his answering machine. He phoned me back later that night and spent over half an hour on the phone to me from Florida (at his expense) trying to sort out the problem...
