This looks like just the ticket, I just recently bought a DCS-932L camera and it’s a real bugger to get the wireless working, if indeed this does work as advertised (on a Mac) then I’ll get one.
I would like to know however if the LED lights glow in the dark i.e. a dead giveaway when monitoring in the dark, better camera systems employ IR light which cannot be seen by the naked eye.
Another thing I would like to know is how easy/hard it is to connect a live stream to Mac software like “IP Camera Viewer” (http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/ip-camera-viewer/id412795760?mt=12)?
I need to view the footage live where ever I am so that’s on the iPad/iPod/iPhone and Mac, how quickly can it establish a connection, what are the data rates like on the network and how about the quality of the sound?

I think you’ll find all cameras with IR have LEDs that ‘glow’ a faint red in the dark – that’s the nature of Infrared light emitting diodes I’m afraid.
The great thing about the UCam247i is that it has its own free iPhone/iPad app you can use to view the camera’s Live video from anywhere (providing you have mobile broadband connection of course on your phone wherever you happen to be).

I’m sure that the LEDs can be made to not be visible in the recognisable light spectrum, which would be beneficial for my tastes, but I think it costs more, where as this is a reasonably priced camera.
I appreciate that a software app is available, however allowing for others to hook into the camera with their existing setup is always a must, is it possible?
Is the free iOS software simply a website in software clothing? And is it free software (or bundled with the hardware?)
My concern with speed was not for the refresh rate, rather the latency of which other users of a home network could expect to receive when the camera was in use and how the quality of the [live] stream itself might be affected, those kinds of real-world data rates.
The camera is like any other IP cam so yes you can certainly set it up for use with IP Cam Viewer and any other app that supports set up using an mjpeg stream.
As for our own app this is not just a mobile website – it is actually a dedicated app that works very differently to any other IP cam viewer app. The best way to check it out, as I said before, is to download the app and test it with our demo cam – it won’t cost you anything but a bit of time 🙂

There’s a photo of one of these cameras in an external housing, but no indication on the site whether this camera is suitable for use outside, and no link to buy one. Can anyone advise?
I’ve tried the app on an Android phone, and it’s great. However, on an iPad, there’s no button to move to the next field and the password field is hidden by the keyboard. Is there a way around this?
The UCam247i is an indoor camera. There is an external version coming soon but for now only the indoor version is available.
If you rotate the iPad into portrait mode you should see the fields you need.
