Useful Gadget of the Week: These £20 Bluetooth Headphones are Amazing

Anker Soundbuds Tag - Value Bluetooth Headphones

I know, headphones again, I can’t stop myself, it’s a disease. And wait till you see next months post 😉

In the meantime, here’s a pair you can buy totally guilt free. The Anker SoundBuds Tag In-Ear Bluetooth Earbuds have reset my mind on what a value wireless headphone can be.

They blow away my Bragi ‘The Headphone’ (£160) both in terms of the bass (which is great) and volume. The 90mAh battery takes 90 mins to charge and provides around 6 hours of play time.

Apart from the price and the surprisingly pleasing sound, I love the magnet system that means once they are separated they immediately connect to my phone.

  • Smart-magnets power on when separated and automatically pair with last connected device.
  • Sweatproof: Innovative nano-engineering delivers robust performance in practically any environment.
  • A Tailored Fit: Customize your hold with multi-size EarTips and patented AirWings – engineered for superior comfort and grip.
  • What’s In the Box: S/M/L EarTips, S/M/L/XL AirWings, FitClip, Micro USB Cable, Travel Pouch, welcome guide, 18-month warranty.
  • Wireless Earbuds, Smart Magnetic Headphones with aptX Technology, CVC 6.0 Noise Cancellation, 6 Hour Playtime — Bluetooth 4.1 Headset with Mic

If you’re a smartphone user that has recently lost your headphone jack then trade up from dongle-land. This is the price I used to pay for my go to Sony in-ear wired headphones. Heck at the price it doesn’t mater if you leave them on the bus. Give them a try, what have you got to lose.

  1. Thanks for the tip, I ordered these after seeing your post as waiting for Jaybird X3s replacement charging clip and can’t deal with wires on the tube in the morning!

After using them for a day these are amazing for the price. After been stung with the absolutely awful TaoTronics buds at the same price (which bizarrely have stunning reviews on amazon), I wasn’t going near £20 Bluetooth earbuds again but these have changed my mind. Reasonable sound quality for the price and connection has been rock solid so far.

  2. @Dave – thanks for leaving that comment, appreciated 🙂

  3. Having purchased Beats X for the wife earlier in the year, I was intrigued by your reviews claim of excellent sound quality. Having purchased these on your recommendation, I can confirm that from a hardware quality they aren’t closed to the beats, but at £129 I wouldn’t expect that…

The wire connecting the two ear buds is a little short, although plenty of space even for the biggest of heads. It does leave the audio control a little high, but once you get used to using them without looking, this becomes less of a problem. The earbuds themselves are much larger than those on the beatsX, but fit and hold well, even during a workout / run.

That said, the sound quality is fantastic…. For £20, I am very impressed, in fact, for £50 I’d still be impressed.

    Thanks for the heads up!

  4. @Robbie – thanks for those comments, glad you agree 🙂
