    Door connections and stairs

I have a door at the top of the stairs between my entrance hall and landing. What is the correct way to define connections? I currently have it set as opens out from entrance hall (downstairs) and opens into landing (upstairs). Should I still add a stairs object and if so with what as the connections?

    good question ...

we initially included stairs between (in our case) lobbies, seeing them just as ways of connecting the flows on each floor, but without understanding how they operated ...

we have three floors, and three stairs ... down the road, our lower stairs grew into a room (still with stairs to provide the link to the floor below) because it had lighting which turned-out to be inappropriately controlled when assigned to the upper lobby ... while the upper stairs didn't need this doing (no stairs above, so the stairs are effectively part of the upper lobby) ... as also the outside stairs, which go up from the yard into the gazebo (through which we pass to get to the garden door of the house) ...

ie: we still see stairs as just the links to join floors, not as stairs themselves - if that makes sense ...

Yes that makes sense. I guess the confusion is in my case with a door at the top of the stairs then there are two objects effectively serving the same purpose. I like your idea of creating a stairs room as this could allow the door to open up to the stairs room and then a stairs object would link that room to the entrance hall. There is a half landing on the stairs so it wouldn't be too hard to visualise.

The stairs are decended logically from an open door. Allowing the Hall and Landing to be connected together with a more meaningful icon. Thus motion on the landing may imply moving from hall (depends on all sorts of other things).
