The race is on then who will get their PI first.
Now do I go straight for the media player set up. Do I tinker first. Do I try hooking it up to the unfinished Cybot I have in the cupboard or do I use it to control LED lights.

No, it's still in the deepest medieval mechanisms of the Royal Mail. reading the Raspberry Pi forums earlier, and it seems that the Pis are being shipped by second class parcel post. Watch it arrive on Monday 30 minutes after I leave for work!
The guidance on the Farnell site for normal packages <1kg is 1st class royal mail.
As for projects, I want to try and recompile and run a Mythtv Frontend for it. The Myth developers give dire warnings about running Myth on seemingly anything less than a 8 core 16GB gaming rig these days, but the frontend was ported with a lightweight theme and ran moreorless OK on a Nokia N900. Failing that the fall back is XBMC. Velcroed to the back of a TV obviously.
I also want to have a play with the GPIO and one-wire and PIR humidity type sensors. The Pi is about the same price as a Nanode RF, and much more capable. Would like to knock up a room sensor to plug into the media PIs. All feeding back to a central server.
What's your plans?
Replace my large XBMC with a PI.
Maybe use one to control my heating. My current thermostat/timer is rubbish and the one I like will cost 145 quid. So a PI looks quite reasonable for this.
LED lighting control.
Resurrect my unfinished Cybot in the cupboard.
Get the kids one then they can stop bugging me about using the laptop.
And if I have some spare time a GPS based project. I have a very small 12 CH GPS unit that runs on 5V and outputs TTL signals.
Mind you I will probably only get the XBMC done

I have installed both the debian build and an Openelec build to SD cards.
Openelec managed to play every video I tried from my media server (Pogoplug running debian and mediatomb) without a hiccup - extremely impressed. Interface was really quick with no slowdowns either.
OpenElec and XBMC have impressed me so much that i dont think i am going to bother with the mythfrontend. Currently sorting my media with a shared db and shared directories for artwork and trailes etc
I want to try and get some 1-wire sensors working via the GPIO next, and XBMC working with remote controls.
