Could be anything from a faulty programmer selector, dodgy temp sensor, leaky hose etc.
If its a leaky hose and water is dripping inside, there is a small float switch that rises up on the bottom and cuts off the water and makes the dishwasher go to the empty cycle.
I would try and open the dishwasher and see if there is anything obvious. Most things can be got at, but it could take sometime to work out how to do it. Took me 2 days to work out how to remover the impeller and motor assembly from the pump. I couldn't take the pump out as a complete unit without cutting a hose as it wouldn't come off.
