    Macro's

we've had several goes at creating macro's, and everytime found we can't do what we want ...

format, options, none seem to fit ...

OK, might be us, but ...

we imagined it would be a matter of defining - something like - identifying objects, and connections between them, together with some logic (if this, do that, else do something else) ...

but, not that we can see ...

so, what are people doing with macro's, what sort of thing is possible ??

Can you be a bit more specific i.e provide an example of what you want to do.

Macros are one tool, in other instances logic gates might be the answer or even a combination. But it obviously depends on what you are trying to achieve.

As a general comment, one of the fundamental characteristics of Cortex and the Idratek system in general is the emphasis on having integration so that the use of macros, logic, schedulers and so on doesn't become the main way of doing things but just used for the odd extra function here and there. However I do realise that in your system you may have quite a lot of specific features that you want to achieve. Nonetheless we always look at what new functions people are using the technology for and if we consider generic enough then may introduce new or enhance existing objects to cover these so that it fits in better with the integration objective.

OK, now had some success - funny how it's obvious once it's done ...

actually, the facility is very straightforward, succinct, and effective !

The problem, for us, has really been one of being still on the learning curve ... and therefore having insufficient appreciation of the full pallet of tools available to accomplish any particular task ...

ie: now we understand a bit better what's in the various groupings of functions - Connections, Behaviour, Macro, Scheduler, General Logic, etc, etc - and the standpoints from which they were created, we're finding ourselves less often in cul de sacs ...

Our build is more automated than most, plus we're going without the usual fall-backs - meaning, we're more than usually reliant on being able to get it to do things ...

Must say, as we progress, we find ourselves increasingly appreciative of how well-considered & distilled-down Cortex really is ...
