    Doorbell

we're fans of Elise - makes a first rate doorbell ...

but it's not so loud ...

ie: with Intercom volume set right, doorbell & dings & dongs are too quiet ...

can they be adjusted separately ?

or do we need to buy a Friedland Facet 2, as well ...

to be activated by a relay on a (say) DRB ...

    ???

There are two volume settings for each intercom object. One is for when Cortex is issuing sounds or speech itself (Sounds and Voice) and the other is for when the intercom is being used as an intercom (Conversation). So you should be setting the Sounds and Voice setting to a higher value (if you haven't already). Beyond that you need to adjust the output from the PC itself. This can be done from the Cortex Sound Devices mixer. Here you need to go to the Sounds and Voice tab and click on the relevant control name (not its check box - which perhaps unintuitively should be unchecked for outputs you want unmuted) and once the name strip is highlighted you can then adjust the volume slider for that particular PC audio output.

It is best to operate the PC output at highest level without distortion rather than try and operate with low PC output and higher intercom gain since the latter will also increase any noise pickup.

just to say how we ended-up ...

we tried the various settings, but couldn't get the right balance of things ...

so we bought a battery-operated Friedland ding-dong box & wired it to one of the relays of an XRM' plugged into an AUI ...

the AUI awaits software updates, before it will function, in any useful way, but the relay part can be Connected to another Button - meaning we can ring our own doorbell, as the fancy takes us, 'though callers can't (occasional annoyed / annoying banging on the door in-consequence) ...
