    Default evohome Wi-Fi

    Dear Forum

Posting this first here in the forum. Honeywell is launching today evohome Wi-Fi. The getconnected.honeywell.com site is due for an update this afternoon - but if you want to see more details go here http://www.honeywelluk.com/Documents...20Brochure.pdf

LONDON, Junes 1: Honeywell (NYSE: HON), the heating control specialist and one of the world’s leading thermostat and heating controls manufacturers, has today announced evohome Wi-Fi, integrating Wi-Fi connectivity into the intelligent heating system to further simplify installation. evohome Wi-Fi is available for purchase from today.

Additionally evohome Wi-Fi has benefited from some additional improvements including an update to the external design and some internal UI changes to assist the configuration and building of the system.

Honeywell’s evohome Wi-Fi delivers greater efficiency by using Smart Zoning and learning technologies to transform the way homes are heated. Offering wireless individual room controls to suit any lifestyle, evohome allows busy homeowners to heat only the rooms they use rather than their whole house. By upgrading from a basic timer and thermostat controls to evohome’s Smart Zoning, users can deliver up to 40% savings on heating their home[i].

It is suitable for most conventional heating systems, with accessories sold to control underfloor heating, stored hot water and now, with the additional launch of the OpenTherm wireless relay box, evohome can provide a best in class level of control for the new OpenTherm capable boilers which are offering the highest energy savings and fast becoming prevalent in the UK.

Krzysztof Meinicke, Portfolio Director for Honeywell’s EMEA Home Comfort & Energy Systems division said: ‘Honeywell has been committed to continuously improving our products. We’ve not only made the best smart heating system out there even better by integrating Wi-Fi, but we have also ensured evohome can support the latest boiler technologies, with the inclusion of the OpenTherm accessory. Honeywell prides itself on being at the forefront of smart home heating and evohome Wi-Fi demonstrates our commitment to staying there.’

Honeywell evohome systems are available to buy now at an RRP of £249 (inc. VAT). For a full list of suppliers please visit http://getconnected.honeywell.com.

if I understand correctly, the RFG100 gateway (wired) is now subsituted by a device with Wifi (wireless)? Or even the Wifi built into the Evotouch?

WiFi is built into the controller so the gateway is redundant.

any idea what the UI changes are and what firmware bugs are fixed ?

will this be a simple swap out for the v2 evohome and if so what would the advantage be (apart from the external gateway) ?

looks like it (rather annoyingly) needs a different wall mount ?

The Sonos solution then. Is HW going to offer upgrade prices to existing Evohome owners?

    Not comprehensive but in summary:

    - UI changes are mainly to assist installers (users) in the binding process
    - UI changes on front screen showing optimisation process (see here for view) http://getconnected.honeywell.com/en...Fi-display.pdf)

    - It will work with all evohome components.
    - Local HR92 override now displays
    - It needs a different wall/stand mount as we have changed the mount/dock to allow for a 'one hand lift' operation, including magnets.
    - There are no changes to the algorithms or performance of the unit - as there are no identified bugs to fix in this space
    - Over the air FW update for device is upgradeable if required (for both comms and device)
    - Belgium customers benefit from enhancements from a greater level of integration of with mixing valve
    - Enhanced touchscreen / display
    - Front cover/frame - redesigned /updated - with more covers coming. . .

The product is an improvement on the original product where improvements could be made. A single box design reducing congestion at the home router etc.

Any existing user of evohome would not get any performance benefit from moving to this device. Hence the reason why this is not Gen 2/ v2 etc. Both receive benefits of future platform updates etc.

    Turns it on and off.

Previously this setting was deeper inside the system, and feedback was it was hard to find. We have also put newer icons on which show whether it is start or stop, within the room zones.
