They do tell you the current temperature, you can even change the settings on the HR92 so that the temperature displayed permanently on the screen is either the set point or room temp. I have all mine on room temp, as you know what you've set it at....

I wouldn't say the 92s I fitted are loud but they're certainly very audible. My valves are all old - I can 'just' push the pins with a thumb if I don't mind it hurting For the valves I have which are not compatible with any adapters, I'm just going to buy a lot of Valencia units - we can do to drain our system anyway so might as well do that at the same time.
Swapped one out today that had been inspected by the owners 2 year old. Thoroughly.

          Including draining and refilling ?

On a sealed system maybe. My vented system takes something like 20+ minutes to fully drain and as much again to fill, and there's nothing I can do to speed that up...

Just bung the tank instead then you don't have to drain it, works surprisingly well....

              Why drain the system?

Can't get enough access to the header tank to do something like that - it's jammed tightly into the apex of the roof in a loft conversion. I can only get at the outside/bottom of the tank without complete disassembly. For the sake of just draining the system I wouldn't trust it anyway, especially in rooms with carpet...

Err, How am I going to remove and replace the valve bodies off 8 different radiators with a system with a 5 metre head of water in it ? I'm not interested in any "tricks" like using freeze packs.

I bought one of these (because I saw it cheap). Haven't used it yet.

The issue with those is that, like AC in a car, if you don't use it, they fail. Hence why I got rid of our freezing kit.

We nearly always found quicker and easier ways to do the job. Even if it meant snatching the fitting.

This machine is different from the normal freezing kits. It uses the Peltier effect rather than refrigerants. So I don't think it's as sensitive to usage.

Will freeze within 30-minutes as long as low temperatures are within the pipes and is not in circulation.
At 30 minutes per pipe it would be quicker for me to just drain down to do 8...

It does two at once. But yes, I take your point.

On the other hand, an easy job and a quick job aren’t always the same thing.

Also it depends how well your open vented system fills back up, we’ve had systems where you spend longer trying to get air locks out than you did actually doing the job.
