    Extending RC6 IR

    Hi all,
Will the KAT5 IR modules pass the RC6 standard of IR. I specifically want to control an NTL Pace DC220 box located in a basement (RC6 & MK4 RCU IR protocol support as standard - direct quote from brochure)
I don't need to carry the picture or sound actually so the KAT5 modules may be a little expensive just for this - but whatever.
BTW I have tested many of the commercailly available "Blasters" and they either don't support the IR standard or are RF based and the signal does not seem to travel.
My head is wrecked by this problem actually!

    Re: Extending RC6 IR

    Hi Micko,

Cant comment on your specific set top box as I have no personal experience of it but it should work fine with KAT5 if it uses RC6

My DVD recorder is "vanilla" RC6 aka RC6-0-16 and it works perfectly

Sky use a variant of RC6 known as RC6-6-20 and many people are controlling SKY and SKY+ with KAT5

    You shouldnt have any problems.

    Regards

      Thanks for your help guys,
I can finally see light (not IR !) at the end of the tunnel. Although the client is now re-thinking his no clutter policy as he has just realised where he is going to put the DVD player!
