Savant Ships Wi-Fi Remote Control

Savant has announced it’s shipping its Wi-Fi-based Universal Remote.  The unit features a new user interface and a 1.7-inch colour display.

The 35 programmable hard buttons are backlit and the remote features two-way feedback from compatible devices using Wi-Fi and Savant Solutions Apple based home automation equipment.

Customisation is via the RacePoint Blueprint design software tool and Savant say the WiFi Remote offers “a sleek design and sophisticated functionality at an affordable price”…

This sleek new $399 solution has been designed for the modern media room, providing intuitive control of an entire audio/video system along with connected devices such as distributed audio, lighting, climate control and other features within a residential or commercial setting. Similar to Savant’s existing user interface options, the Savant Universal Remote is self-configuring once connected to the network, eliminating the complex programming associated with competitive products. The new universal remote from Savant expands the brand’s presence in the growing connected home marketplace with a versatile and affordable Wi-Fi-based solution that is ideal for full- featured, value-oriented control packages.

However the remote is not a stand alone device, as it does need a Savant control system to function.

  2. I think there’s a mistake in the original story and in the response from David…

Isn’t this announcement about the launch of the Savant Remote (https://www.savant.com/product/remote-host) which doesn’t need a Savant Pro system, but can be expanded to control plug0in sockets as well as entertainment systems. If it is then the picture is of the wrong device – the new one is much better looking and more user friendly…
