Poly-Lock Converts Existing Locks to Z-Wave

Danish company Poly-Control has launched a new wireless Z-Wave door lock that retro-fits to your existing cylinder lock, deadbolt, magnetic lock etc turning it into one that can be operated from anywhere in the world.

Poly-Lock can be controlled remotely via the iPhone or Android smartphone app, a web interface or Poly-Control’s own keypad, the Poly-Pad.  The battery powering the unit should last between 2 and 3 years and the makers claim it’s the smallest Z-wave door lock on the market.  While the lock and keypad are Z-Wave based they also integrate with other wireless technologies such as NFC, RFID, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

Check out the video below for an overview on reto fitting the Poly-Lock.

Introducing the Poly-Lock in an updated design enabling new protocols, Poly-Control has once again proven that design and user friendliness can be successfully combined. While current wireless door locks only operate in certain countries, the Poly-Lock remains the only wirelessly controlled door lock to be mounted on any existing door lock globally.

Poly-Lock was originally launched as a Z-Wave based solution also compatible with Bluetooth, NFC and RFID protocols. Henning Overgaard, CEO in Poly-Control, explains that adding a connection option through low-power Wi-Fi lets the user utilize the existing home network:

‘This enables a direct connection between the user’s smartphone and the Poly-Lock, which eliminates the hassle of having to setup and connect through a gateway,’ explains the CEO adding that the Poly-Lock aggregates the data on when the door has been open and closed.

‘This info is sent through the router and obtainable online through any web browser, giving you an immediate overview of who accessed your home, when, and how long they stayed.’
