IMHO useless device. Especially comparing with cheap Android tablets. That tablet/iOS device + IR emitter = touchscreen universal remote.
Without doubt a remote control that has hard buttons and fits in one hand will suit many people better than a tablet of any size or OS.
However, tablets are great – especilly if control is 2-way for metadata and cover art browsing. i.e. not just IR
