As promised some more info and photo's of "my Hometronic":

I made a separate patch area for Hometronic because I gradualy built up the system, and in that way it is easier to add or change things...
(patchbox cover removed for the photo)

The HCE60 has a wireless connection to the Hometronic system (and the sensors) via the MMI (userinterface).

The userinterface (not visible) is connected via a 4-wire CAN-bus to the modules.

approx. prices of the modules (without VAT):
    system/comfort/alarm/telecom: EURO 200 each
MMI (user interface with RF transmitter, not on pictures): EURO 300
HCE60 (underfloor heating controller) EURO 300

          Frank,
I am not really familiar with PLC's but I would say no.
It is a dedicated "homecomputer" that communicates with the other modules (and the MMI's) via a CAN backbone.
It is not an open system, very proprietary.
Maybe I will make some more pictures of the interior pcb's -in due time-.

            Re: Bog standard heating automation.

I have designed my own replacement controller using an Atmel AVR microcontroller, an LCD display and a few buttons. The system consists of 2 parts, the main controller which has all the timing functions and a boiler interface module. Both are interconnected via a CAN bus network on CAT5e or 4 core cable.

The whole system is standalone but can be controlled remotely from the PC via the CAN bus network. Various status displays and screens are fitted around the house and remote control via SMS can be achieved through software currently on the PC but later to be implemented as an embedded solution.

The existing system remains as is and in parallel, but is switched OFF.

It has been running now for some 4 months without any problems. Additional features are boost control and 3 programmed times per CH and HW circuits. A new controller is in the pipeline with touch screen and greater features.

More details on my website at www.embeddedcomputer.co.uk

Deano, I am about to use some DS1820's and have been deciding how to hide/mount them !.

Do you get a true reading with them mounted in your PIR's?

Have you mounted them in any thing else?

                Re: Bog standard heating automation.

I tried mounting my DS1820 sensors near the ceiling but found the temperature gradient too much. You can compensate for this but it all depends how good your insulation is. It also takes longer for the sensor to react if you cover them over.

I now mount them using table lamp cable clamps (less than £1 - B&Q Warehouse) where I can. This one is mounted on a architrave blank plate in one of my rooms. You just tighten the ring and it clamps the sensor nicely.

                    Hi all

I have used the Honeywell Hometronic system and do the following with it:-

temperature compenstated control of boilers for efficiency / control of hotwater.

Zone control of radiators using wireless rad controller 10 zones.

lighting control using HD and HS modules using polished chrome push button switches.

Daylight tracking for control of exterior lighting via a HS switch module.

Control via TV using Honeywell interface and Phillips pronto remote control.

Interface with Ademco intruder detection system with keyfob arming. When system is armed it signals the homtronic system puting it into away mode. This provided energy saving and random centralised control of lighting to simulate presence.

The system works well and is now being expanded to control garage doors and front gates via the security system.

if anyone wants any infor then mail me or contact Konstructiv Ltd on 07976 848876.

                      Re: Bog standard heating automation.

I'm after controlling my heating via a web interface on my home network. I know what I need to switch the heating on and off with a low voltage signal (relays etc) and also have some Dallas temp sensors with a 1 wire Serial adapter.

I need help with interfacing between the computer and the relays on the cheap, and tieing everything together software wise. I have no programming experience apart from a small amount of HTML and Basic.

                      Thanks in advance

                        For your info:
I found a webbased domotica controller, called FieldCommander,
that enables linking the Ademo Microtech (now Honeywell)
intruder detection system (also called Galaxy system).
