    Clock on go-slow!!

Has anybody else come across this one?

I have a PC running Homeseer software connected via CM11 interface. The clock on windows loses about one hour every day. If the computer is restarted the clock goes back to the correct time - strange!!

No, I have not seen that before.

I personally use one of the freeware internet time sync programs to keep my Homeseer PC clock accurate as I use W2K.

I get Homeseer to speak the time every hour during the day and it announces spot on to my Rugby clock!

If you are running XP, it could be that the built in time sync is correcting your clock when you re-boot and actually your on-board clock battery is past its prime.

If the PC loses time whilst windows is running then its an OS problem, the fact that it resets itself on boot-up indicates the BIOS (CMOS) time is ok. The BIOS passes the time to the OS, the OS then looks after it (but does not pass it back).

CPU intensive apps can cause the CPU to fail to update the System clock even though the clock has an Interrupt Request jabbing the busy likkle CPU in the back for attention.
