    cheapest way of switching on 5 plug in lamps?

    I have no experience but what is the cheapest way of switching on 5 plug in lamps in seperate rooms at the same time by switch or remote - I do have a pronto style pdawin on my Dell axim

    Do you need to be able to switch them on from just one room, or all five rooms?

    X10 and an IR controller will allow you control then from a single location. But if you want control from anywhere with your PDA then you'll need multiple IR rewceivers or one plus 4 repeaters.

    Alternatvely you could use wireless RF instead of IR and control then all with a single transceiver (provided it's within range). You wouldn't be able to use your PDA in this scenario.
