    Cortex and AV Receivers

    Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone has done anything with getting Cortex to talk to an AV receiver via RS232 or any other IP protocol?
I know I can control the AVR and other equipment via an IR module but I would like to use the more direct control method.

    Thanks,
    Nad

our AV gear has both IR & RS232 interfaces, too - so this is also on our to-do list ...

IIUC, we're going to have to go via the API facilities ...

Always a good option but do the AV equipment manufacturers give out information about their APIs to Joe Public?
I guess it would be the same with the RS232 commands.

      Thanks,
      Nad

in our case, we've the service manuals (which were available on-request, for modest fee) & they give the ASCII codes, IR codes, etc ... years ago, in the days of 16-bit PC OSs, we used these & QB to do the necessary (it was before the days of HA, too) ...
