New Firmware (2.1) for evohome Wi-Fi coming soon

    Dear All

A new firmware will be released over the coming weeks for evohome Wi-Fi. V2.1. This will be pushed out sometime soon, but has already been applied to units out of manufacturing.

    - HR92 manual adjustments - Will now be shown on the main evohome and App display
    - enhanced support & improvements for HM80
    - General enhancements & tweaks (most not applicable to the average user)

Users do not need to do anything as the push will occur automatically.

Non-evohome Wi-Fi models (models that require a gateway) will not be able to receive this update.

Thanks for letting us know. Is there any chance of a 'trade-in' / swapover for automated home 'enthusiasts' that you could perhaps offer ? I know I'd for one be interested in going to the wifi only model and getting the updated firmware.

Quick show of hands - how many people in this forum would be willing to upgrade? (Just the controller obviously)

I would (maybe I'll take a look at the price tag before). Having a separate controller and gateway means two boxes and that's a disadvantage already. Not to mention last summer lightning storms that burned down half of my devices that were directly connected (e.g. my smart TV connected into the ADSL modem with a cat.5 cable). My RFG100 survived but could have gone as well...

Me to - I bought the first gen monochrome evohome on the expectation of upgrades via the usb port. Then I bought the second again expecting upgrades via the gateway and I contributed to the forum on the basis that it would lead to new firmware but then found it wouldn't. So then sort of felt that my efforts helped others who bought the modified units but left me with the same issues short of throwing the unit away and starting again. So it would motivate me again to get involved if I felt I personally would benefit from the upgrades. Whilst I am happy to help other folk it is a shame those of us who could be regarded as the "testers" don't benefit from our input. So a trade in to a unit that will be upgraded would be rather pleasant.

Is this "V2.1" release the same "Application Software Version: 01.00.02.01" that has recently been pushed out to some units already ?

                              Yep, depending on the price.
