I've been using mine in an original RPi and it works OK. The z-way software didn't work well for me so changed to Domoticz and performance has been better.

I need some form of IR repeater to go from 2/3 zones back to node0. Would I be better getting a dedicated hard wired system or using Comfort to do the repeating?

Why will the cables flex and pull? The magnet can go in the sash and the reed can be in the cill or the top rail so doesn't need to move. You can hide the cable between the frame and the brick...

Does anybody have Z-wave connected to comfort? How well/badly does it work?

Would a PIR connected to Comfort be able to trigger a Z-wave command or do I need a standalone Z-wave PIR?
