    Re: an automatic bypass

    in short, yes.

Automatic bypass valve works on the pressure in heating circuit. Once that is reached it'll open and let the water circulate even if all TRVs are closed.

    On older systems that...

Re: Central heating/hot water system haywire

Hot water usually has priority so when that's on all rads are off. To do this you usually use diverter valve. What I don't understand is how do you switch on/off upstairs and downstairs.

    Do you...

    Re: Wireless controlled radiator Valves

Toscal, I have Hometronic system installed at home on 16 rads configured as 14 zones. They are all wireless controlled by Hometronic manager. It all works very well but it's not cheap. If you only...
  7. Re: Plumber can't fix two zone system - problem downstairs

Sounds rubbish to me. If there was any blockage in the heat exchanger then radiators wouldn't warm up at all, would they. It's next to impossible to offer any advice without the electrics diagram and...
  8. Re: Plumber can't fix two zone system - problem downstairs

I can't stop thinking that this must be some problem with electrics. You clearly said that you can actually make all the zones work at the same time so it doesn't look like problem with plumbing to...

Re: one cold radiator in the system

Just to be on the safe side, have you checked that BOTH valves on the rad are opened?

Also you didn't mention if you have thermostatic valve fitted. Sometimes they get stuck.

    Re: Cold Radiators downstairs

It looks to me like you haven't got the radiators balanced properly. As toscal suggested look here http://www.diyfaq.org.uk/plumbing/rad-balance.html. Your problem is that radiators further down in...

Re: central heating wont turn on main flame

I don't know that boiler but my first guess would be "If you have the pilot but not the main flame then the gas is not flowing into the burner". There are only 2 things which can cause that.
    1) Gas...

    Re: Central Heating Problem

Another thing you can do is to get that radiator fitted with TRV as well and also get the "automatic pressure bypass".

The radiator without TRV is usually towel heater. The reason why in old...

Is there a way to get something like X10 micromodules but for ZWave? I'd seriously look into some electronics DIY due to the lack of device choice.
