Remove the white front case and base panel

just above the pump there are two stats the central heating one is the one on the right.

watch out ,you'll have to drain the boiler first.

    Thanks for prompt responce...

I see them - My logic says I shud be able to test them by removing one lead while burner is on to simulate stat temp reached - if so this is not the problem, the burner stays lit. (or is it n/o switch closing at stat temp?)

Btw: the problem is the same for both hot water or heating and fault is intermittent! -
as they always are of course.

before you go any further is there enough pressure in the boiler?

i suppose both stats could go!

if you haven't got the manual,

Ive checked the pressure - its fine just over the 1 in the green band.
New development the central heating now does not function at all - ie when switched to constant heat - the burner does not ignite - however with hot water tap it does and sometimes will not cancel untill high temp sensor cuts boiler out ...

this sounds like it could be the board,

    pumas are notorious for this,

you can check this though, if you can take the board out,you will notice a burn mark in one of the corners, if you can get hold of the resistor that has burnt out bingo, or even sometimes it's a case of re-soldering the dry joint.

    HELP! please....

    ok the saga continues....

The boiler works fine in CH mode with no problems at all
Try to draw hot water and the burner ignites and delivers as much water as required. However when you turn the tap off, the burner stay lit until burner lockout stat cuts the burners - pilot can be relit after about 30 seconds.

Parts replaced so far in order are
Hot water sensor - DHW stat - Diverter valve (complete) and tonight I have replaced the modulator PCB. -

Note: If after drawing hot water you swith the boiler to standby before the burner cut out then you can turn switch back to on after about 5 -10 minutes where the heating will resume normally.

I realise there is another sensor and frost stat - these have not been replaced.

Also there is a red led which sometimes goes out after hot tap is turned off but mostly it stays on. Occasionally I can not turn the boiler back on untill this led has gone out - cant see any reference to this anywhere what does it indicate?

I am running out of money and ideas now any clues please??
