x10 light automation - ganged light switches

My house lighting is wired up in the following way:-

I have three lights, a potch light, lounge light and a landing light which are controlled by five switches

My portch light is controlled by a single switch. My lounge light is controlled using two switches, one of which is ganged with my portch light switch. Another lounge light switch is ganged with one of the switches which controls my landing light. A further single switch for my landing light is upstairs.

I want to be able to automate these lights using X10 without having to make major changes in the location or fittings of the existing switches.

Anybody have any ideas on how I could do this?

    Thanks

    Tony

Re: x10 light automation - ganged light switches

So that I've got this correct the switch layout is as follows:
Porch and lounge switches in one unit
Lounge and landing switches in one unit
    landing switch on its own.

This can be done quite easily but does take some thinking. You have 2 options. But do you want just on off control or would you like dimming control as well. You can't dim energy saver bulbs or flurescent lights. And some low voltage halogens don't like being dimmed.
IF YOU CAN'T FIX IT WITH A HAMMER, YOU'VE GOT AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.

        Sorry for the delay.
We will deal with the unit codes first . These are just an example but you need to keep the number pattern similar.
        Porch A1
        Lounge A2
        Landing A3

You will also need 2 AWM2 Micromodules and 1 AW12 micromodule.
The AWM2 has a built in X10 appliance module plus the ability to contol another X10 module.
In the porch and lounge unit put an AWM2 Set this module to A1 connect your porch switch to the wires for switch 1 and wire the light up to the correct connections on the module. switch 2 is connected to the lounge switch.
For the lounge landing unit set the other AWM2 to A2. Switch 1 is for the lounge and switch 2 for the landing.
Now set the AW12 to A3 and fit this one in the landing switch.

As they are all appliance modules your normal switches will be ok.

The AWM2 modules are not cheap about 62 pounds the AW12 is about 40 pounds.
for more info on the AWM2 you can download the manual here
