      Re: Asterisk Live! CD

      yeah, sure ...

Asterisk (http://www.asterisk.org) is a VOIP capable PBX application that runs under the Linux OS supporting all major VoIP standards. It allows connection to PSTN, ISDN (PRI and BRI) through PCI cards available from Digium, and also cards such as the VoiceTronix Open series.

Asterisk will allow routing of calls between voip and the pstn, the use of least cost routing etc...

The Live CD provides a base system on which you can test/play with asterisk without having to actually go through the trouble of installing it. If you have a USB key or USB CF card reader you can also put your configurations on there and when the CD boots it will look for them and use those. This means you don;t have to recreate your configs each time you boot with the CD

The Live CD currently supports the Zaptel cards and all VoIP protocols except h323.

I'd appreciate feedback on the CD itself...

        Re: Asterisk Live! CD

Andy thanks for doing the CD. I will be downloading later this week.

My question is what spec of machine should I use ? I see USB is used for the config so that limits my choice of machines that I have collecting dust.

Looking for a domestic setup with a half dozen extensions, two lines but very interested in the Voicemail and IVR functions....

        Thanks again
