    3 port valves & standardisation?

HI, Can anyone help? I have just removed an old Danfoss 3 port v/v and replaced it with one made by Tower (looks like honeywell) I have lined it up in the same position ie AB A & B in the same orientation, but when looking at the pipework and instructions things don't seem right. (This is why I am probably not a plumber) The instructions say that port A is for heating but the pipe from the A side goes to the bottom of the storage tank. Is this right? If not is it possible to swap the wires over so that it works with the right inputs from the controller? I don't want to have to remove the V/V and cut off the olives again if I can help it.

Sorry for the rant and thanks for any replies.
    Cheers,
    Stu.
