Any LAU better than others ?

Coming to the end of my structured wiring hook up.

For POTS will be patching pins 2 & 5 from NTE5 to the patch panel .. and then at each outlet 'patched' will use a local LAU - Pabx Master to generate local ringing (pin 3), this method was advised to avoid any REN issues form microfilter.

Just wanted to know if anybody has any views on LAU's ... makes out there seem to be Pressac, Commtel, Molex or Pro-Signal. as well as a raft load of unbranded.

Anybody any advice on quality ?

    Hi osprey,

See one of my previous posts here:

(as well as the follow-up from katman re: wiring colours/formats)

I use the type stated in the post and they've been fine; not a bad price either

    HTH,

    Tim.

That number shows as a secondary not PABX master ... or did you just mean the Pro Signal range ?

I use the secondary version as per the link
I take the feed to the patch panel from front of my NTE5 (master socket), common up the terminals on the back of the patch panel and use this secondary LAU wherever I need a wired phone point (on the end of a cat5 cable).

You should only (usually) have one master socket on your phone system.
Let me know if you want a sketch of how I've hooked my system up.

        Cheers,

        Tim.
