They can be integrated to some extent. Normally however I would have the homesafe or ness d8 whichever takes your fancy as a standalone system. I would then capture the outputs from the homesafe and integrate their outputs to the minder system, ie, alarm on, alarm state, keyswitch on/off etc.

Are they pet proof?

No.

The C-Bus PIRs are not pet proof, but if you use the HomeMinder or the new MinderPro with a C-Bus interface (not HomeSafe) you can use any pet proof PIR connected to Minder(Pro) to control any C-Bus group.

P.S. Note that the HomeSafe has no C-Bus interface - not even as an option, but you could achieve some simple integration by using a Bus Coupler. The HomeMinder has a built-in C-Bus interface as standard, while the MinderPro has the C-Bus interface as an option.

Now that has got me a tag confused! The package I am about to order is the 5000PK that is described as :-

5400PK Home Safe Security Pack inc ,5400 + 2 x PIR,2 x Door Switch,Strobe,Siren,Horn box,Int. screamer

Includes....
5400 8 Zone Home Safe Security Panel inc Battery,Tel. interface, KeyPad ,2 x Aux Ch for C-Bus

I was assuming the "2 x Aux Channels for C-Bus" was providing the cross over to the C-Bus network, am I mistaken?

(There seems to be a disinct lack of technical info available in the UK for non core C-Bus hardware i.e. HomeSafe. I am using the Clipsal/cis site as my sole resource, does anybody know of any other resources that are good for the "self" installer?)

The 5400 is a re-badged Ness D8 panel. The outputs you describe are a little vague. There are 4 main outputs or open collectors on the 5400. They are arm1, arm2 aux1, aux2
They provide information on the panel status eg, the system is armed or the system is in alarm state. These outputs are typically plumbed into a minder panel and provide functions left up to the integrator for example, when you arm the system minder can see that it is armed and turn your house off, conversely turn your house on when you disarm or turn on all the outside lights when it goes into alarm state. Endless options.

While the OP is probably in a different profession by now, I came across this forum post on Google whilst looking for something for a client. I decided to update the thread as others may find it doing the same search I found it on wanting a solution to the 'pet problem' with occupancy sensors.

We recently had a site with small dogs that ran around the yard all day and night. The client wanted outdoor 'automatic' security lighting and also wanted cameras to record surveillance of the outdoor areas as they abutted a well used waterway and neighbours had previously been broken in to from the water side.

We installed Day / Night IP network cameras at the site and used the 'Alarm' switched output to connect to a C-Bus Auxiliary Input Module and trigger lights via logic in a C-Bus PAC. Motion Detection in the new breed of cameras can be based on size of object moving and lots of new parameters and in specific areas of the screen so it was a tuning job to set it up to ignore the dogs but anything bigger triggered the motion detection and hence the 'alarm'. Set the cameras to write to the FTP server on 'alarm' and a happy client and working system.
