Windows MCE 2005 PC Parts - Bulk Buy
This is an initial post to see if there are enough people interested in a bulk buy of parts to build a Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 PC.
The kit would consist of some or all of the following
1. Motherboard
2. CPU
3. RAM
4. HardDrive
5. DVD Burner
6. Case
7. Video Card
8. TV Tuner Card
9. MCE 2005 OS
10.MCE Remote
If we get enough interest we can approach a supplier for prices.
If you DO have an interest then please reply to this thread
Thanks
M.

I'd be interested in a Remote and TV Tuner card initially. If the price of the whole unit was extremely low I might go for a whole unit :-)

I'd be interested in a remote, and probably a Freeview tuner card. The rest I have lying around. Of course, I need to try MCE 2k5 first to see what it's like.
Cheers,
Andy

Re: Windows MCE 2005 PC Parts - Bulk Buy
Likewise, I have *most* of that kit already lying around, but I don't have any of the MCE specific parts, so much like the majority of the replies above, I'd also be interested in the MCE remote, quite possibly a freeview tuner card of some description, and also may need to get a different graphics card too, depending on whether any of my spare ones are compatible...

I'm sure most of us will have most of the bits, barring 9 &10 and possibly 7&8 too....
But yeah, if the price is right etc...

I'm interested (at the right price) in a baseunit (+os maybe) for mce. Already have a freeview card which should be supported by mce...

Re: Windows MCE 2005 PC Parts - Bulk Buy
I might be interested, depending on costs. I've been testing MCE 2005 on a test platform for a few months, but have no tuner card as yet. Based on a lot of research and discussion, my planned spec will be as follows (in case some of the items are transferrable to your BB):
1. Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-8I915P-D Pro
2. CPU - P4 3.0GHz
3. RAM - 2 x 240Pin DIMM 512MB DDR2 PC2-4200
4. HardDrive - Samsung SpinPoint P80 160GB SATA150
5. DVD Burner - LG GSA4160B
6. Case - TBC (hard one this!)
7. Video Card - TBC (prefer one without a fan)
8. TV Tuner Card - 2 x Black Gold Digital
9. MCE 2005 OS
10.MCE Remote - Microsoft Media Centre remote
plus...
11. CPU fan - Zalman CNPS7000B-ALCU
12. Quiet/silent PSU - Zalman Ultra-Quiet ZM400B-APS
13. HDD cooler - Zalman Heatpipe Cooler ZM-2HC2
Hope this helps, and if the spec is right (cost and parts), i'm in.
Cheers,
Keith
