    BT Videophone 1000 70% Off- Now £40

Looks like BT are dumping their Videophone 1000 model. Currently showing with over 70% Off in their on-line store - Was £149.99 Now £39.98 . Should be worth a punt even if you don't use the video capabilities.

Can these be used with any sip provider or are they locked to BT's one?

I believe these are locked to BT broadband and video calls incurr a 10p/min charge which make these less of a bargain IMO.
FWIW I looked at this recently and bought a couple of web cams.

Ah ok. Anyone know who the real manufacturer is? They may have some less restrictive firmware available for it. At £40 each its not really worth it for a play since it would end up being totally useless to me with no BT account even if I wanted to pay that criminally high amount.
