Default keyboard and mouse in another room?

Hi I'm looking to install my PC in a rack out of sight with other AV equipment.
Does anyone know of a good solution for a remote (ie in another room approx 10metres away) for controlling the PC?

The PC video output will go to a LCD TV through a matrix switch.

    thanks,

    James.

A quick google for "rf keyboard" brought this up.

Range is supposed to be 10m Max (probably free space)
If you could have the RF reciever closer to the keyboard on a long USB lead this may help give you the range.
There mabybe something will a greater range, but if you have walls and rack cases in the way these will attenuate any signal significantly, so it will come down to experimentation

It is possible to do this sort of thing via cat5 cable or similar. Black box do this http://www.blackbox.com/Catalog/Deta...,1881&mid=5037 beastie. Or these ones http://www.blackbox.com/Catalog/Cate...=537,1374,1377
Just do a search on their site for keyboard extenders.
There is also a wireless version but that's very expensive and probably cheaper to buy a new PC.
I've used black box products before and they are very reliable, virtually fit and forget.

In theory you could use a Bluetooth kb & mouse, which is the route I took. It wasn't as reliable as I wanted, if the batteries aren't in very good state it lost the devices, so I had to drill through a wall to put the BT dongle in the same room as the kb & mouse, its been much better since that.

Bluetooth kb & mouse is not something I'd recommend though, it does occasionally lose a pairing, but I've now got the hang of adding the device back in using only keyboard, or only mouse!

The gyration kit gets good reviews on the mailing list, see: http://www.gyration.com/c-3-remotes.aspx for examples

Try here for a UK outlet: http://www.keyboardco.com/
