    email collection

I've set up a messaging service at house level (presume all could be at house level if more than 1) and email accounts (cortex direct - email accounts setup - incoming mail) that feed to the message service inbox.

I have had outgoing mail working before but under email receive options nothing happens. Checking the Comms window I see:
    23:04:56 Connecting to server "pop3.btconnect.com"
23:04:56 Failed to connect to incoming server

I have retyped passwords, added different accounts (all on same pop server) but still not joy. Meanwhile outlook hapily connects to check mail. What puzzles me is that although I now have 3 accounts being checked, it only reports once?

I am not sure where to look for more detailed error message if any exists.

Any ideas where I am going wrong?

Have you got the correct port setting? Could there be something on your system blocking the Cortex application from collecting e-mails? I have just checked on a V22 system and it seems to be working fine. Can't think of what further diagnostics to check at this moment.

I checked this last night and have re-checked now. Cortex port 110; outlook port 110.

Do have any firewall software that could be blocking Cortex outbound on that port? Have you tried the IP address of the server rather the the FQDN?

I am only running XP firewall. Cortex.exe is listed in the exceptions, and the scope is any computer inc internet.
I deleted the original mail account which only cortex uses, replaced FQDN with IP - hey presto it works :-)
replaced IP with FQDN and is still works :-D
In Comms window the logon/off for each mail box is shown.
Must have been something funny with the orginal details.
Interesting that if it fails on one account it just stops, a more informative message and proceding to next accout would be good.
          Thanks for the help

Glad it is now working. If IT were simple I wouldn't have a job
