'wondering how to do the front-door with Idratek ...
at the moment we have a normal door bell with simple push-button, which is OK & works well, in that the bell is loud enough & the button can be pushed repeatedly, with rvarious durations, to send messages (X or Y is home, help is needed to bring things in, crisis, visitor, etc) ... there's a canopy, so the button is reasonably sheltered from the weather ...
but this is in the current house, and the new one will be larger, and we'd like to reach the garden (no Cat-5e, unfortunately), too ... so a bell by the door is unlikely to work, without being unreasonably loud !
with Idratek, teh options would seem to be MFPs (inside, with just a button outside, which would keep it simple for visitors, and allow whoever answers the door to call around the house), an MFP outside, or one of the various button modules outside (one button to keep it simple, multi-button for other options) ...
not sure if the sinlge button modules can work like a simple push & bell (for complex messaging) ... think not, but a multi-button module might allow a few options (one button for this, another for that) ... and might also allow different sequences to mean different things, if going via a user macro ...
anyway ... has anyone used Idratek for the front door ?
or, better still, for all doors (front, back, patio, whatever) ?
of course, a video intercom arrangement could be good !
