Default Swipe Card Door Entry System

    Hi all,

This is all new to me, I am a bit technical but not in this area.

I am looking at controling a door with a swipe card so that I can log who goes through it and when. I was thinking of the yale type catch release that you often see in house to flat comversions.

I have been told that this is possible but I have no idea where to start, any advice will be greatly appeciated.

Just as a side note I may want to add a second door the other side of the house, so if it would be possible to run this from the same PC would be great, otherwise I'd just have to setup a second unit.

    Manys Thanks

    Ash

Another way could be to use RFID cards. Either method isn't going to be cheap. http://www.iautomate.com/index.html
Or for a slightly different approach you could use Cyberlocks from Videx http://www.videx.com/AC%20Site/AC%20Products.html

You would have to work on the logging aspect but the remote entry could be authorised by something like this
    http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?...ce=14&doy=19m3
with the door release provided by something like this http://www.screwfix.com/prods/19768/...m-Lock-Release
These come in fail-open or fail-locked varieties for when the power supply fails.
