What do you want to do just turn on lights, or turn on appliances or both. And what sort of control do you want, pc interface, rf remote control, ir control etc. And for the modules plug in, din rail or behind the wall switches type.

Well i would like todo everything!

Turn lights and appliances on/off, open and close blinds/curtains [un-sure yet because havnt had access to flat].

Well im not sure as of yet I will have a media center/server on almost 24/7. But it would be nice to know other options as well.

Do you want security as well.
So that when you are not there, it will tell your X10 controller. And then your curtains will close automatically, and a light comes on.
Oh and what sort of heating will you have.

I would also like to recommend letsautomate.co.uk. I recently ordered some stuff and it turned up the next day! So pretty handy if you want stuff in a rush.
I only planned to start out with a few light switches and a pc module, but quickly got tempted into remotes, appliances, and curtain controllers

Its personal preference but I would say you need a pc module and some form of light control (be it lamp module, dimmer switch or dim module) to start with.

Go for a CM15 pro, and a couple of lighting and appliance modules.
