What's the difference between Idratek's Cortex software and the Cortexa software?

No relationship. IDRATEK Cortex software is a highly integrated and symbiotic part of the IDRATEK system, whereas Cortexa, I believe, is a product designed to oversee third party automation hardware, a bit like HomeSeer and such. You could use Cortex to control some 3rd party hardware too (alone) but that would be missing the point by quite a margin, ie. you might be better off getting one of the others in that case.
